Faculty vision and strengths
CAPA is a dynamic faculty with highly experience teachers who are experts in their field. CAPA means Creative and Performing Arts. Alongside our variety of subjects listed below, our extracurricular music program is supported by experienced conductors who leads students to play to an exceptional standard.
We are committed to:
- Building strong and collaborative relationships with students, staff and the community.
- Foster a supportive classroom where students feel encouraged to produce best work, are comfortable to work together and are thoroughly engaged in producing work they can feel proud of.
- Drive opportunities for students to achieve and excel in the creative and performing arts to develop passion and value their skills.
- The CAPA faculty provides students with the opportunity to improve critical thinking, develop personal creative expression, cultural awareness, a sense of belonging, positive wellbeing, and a chance for self expression.
Some things you’ll learn:
We are a very diverse faculty. Some of the incredible opportunities for learning include, but are not limited to:
- Drama: Acting, Stop Motion filming, script writing, stage and costume design, Circus skills and improvisation.
- Music - Playing a variety of instruments, singing, songwriting, composing and learning about music.
- Entertainment - Live streams, lighting, sound technician roles, filmmaking, event organisation
- Photography and Digital Media - Using professional SLR cameras, Film making and editing, using Photoshop and other Professional digital design programs, Dark Room activities.
- Language - Learning about Japanese language, writing Hirogama and Kanji, learning about Japanese culture and food.

Activities
Students will experience a wide range of creative activities including visiting artists conducting highly engaging workshops in landscape oil painting and clay sculpting, attending live performances, and visiting musicians' performance workshops.
Students are given many opportunities to be involved in excursions and incursions. These include:
- Cockatoo Island Photography and Art Day
- Art Express Tour
- Industry Work Placements
- CAPA Showcase
- MAD (Music and Drama) Night
- Schools Spectacular
- Taiko and African Drumming
Students who participate in the extracurricular music program are involved in additional opportunities, included on our music ensembles page.
